SEMO Food Bank receives nearly 34,000-pound donation

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — Southeast Missouri Food Bank has received nearly 34,000 pounds of food and household items to help families across the region.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently delivered the truckload to the food bank, marking its second truckload donation to the organization this year.
The donated food and household essentials will be distributed through SEMO Food Bank’s network of partners across its 16-county service area.
According to the food bank, one in five households in Southeast Missouri faces food insecurity. About 70,000 people rely on the food bank and its partner organizations each month.
SEMO Food Bank thanked the church for its continued support and said donations help ensure families, children and seniors have access to food and other essential items.
