SEMO makes it on U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Colleges list

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Southeast Missouri State University is being recognized not just regionally but nationally.

SEMO has made it on the U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Colleges rankings.

U.S. News ranks close to 1,500 colleges on their academic quality.

Additionally, SEMO was also ranked in the top 25 in Top Public Schools for Regional Universities in the Midwest this year.

SEMO was also named in the top 100 in Regional Universities in the Midwest, and the top 50 Best Value Schools in Regional Universities in the Midwest.

SEMO moved from 26 to 25 in Top Public Schools and from 88 to 82 in Top Regional Universities.

SEMO was not ranked in the previous year for Best Value.

“I’m happy to see Southeast recognized in and moving up the rankings,” said Dr. Carlos Vargas, SEMO President. “This accomplishment is a testament to our dedicated faculty and staff, who work hard to provide innovative academic programs and support that enable our students to thrive.”

U.S. News publishes these rankings each year to aid prospective students and their families by providing insights into graduation rates, social mobility, and student debt.
