CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Southeast Missouri State University’s Master of Science in Nursing graduates achieved a 100% overall pass rate on national nurse practitioner certification exams over six years, with 98% passing on their first attempt, according to the university.

The results cover examinations administered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board.

Gina Koch, chief nurse administrator and coordinator of graduate studies in nursing, credited students, faculty and the curriculum for the results.

“It reflects the dedication and hard work of our students, the expertise and commitment of our faculty, and the strength of our curriculum,” Koch said.

SEMO’s Family Nurse Practitioner program includes coursework in advanced assessment, diagnosis, pharmacology and patient care across the lifespan. Students nearing graduation also participate in board preparation activities focused on key subject areas and test-taking skills.

Kyle Schneider, interim director of SEMO’s School of Health Sciences, said the results demonstrate the program’s commitment to preparing students for advanced practice nursing.

The university said the program helps address regional demand for advanced practice providers and strengthens the health care workforce.
