CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) — Students and staff members at Southeast Missouri State University are mourning the loss of Dr. Pam Parry, a respected professor and department chair in the Mass Media Department. She passed away at the age of 62.

Dr. Parry joined SEMO in 2017 as a professor of public relations and chair of the department. A distinguished media professional and historian, she was well recognized for her work in the field and received numerous honors throughout her career. She taught for more than two decades at three different universities.

Members of the university remember Dr. Parry for her kindness and impact on campus life.

“Dr. Parry was an extremely kind person, and I think that’s what she was most known for—her kindness and friendliness,” said Tamara Zellars Buck, SEMO professor and current department chair. “She was well known on campus for walking the halls, greeting everyone, and taking a moment to check in with students and colleagues.”

At the time of her passing, Dr. Parry was teaching four classes, which have since been taken on by different professors to ensure continued student support and success as they mourn the loss of their professor.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14, at Ford & Sons Funeral Home, Mt. Auburn Chapel, in Cape Girardeau, with funeral services to follow.
