ST. LOUIS, Mo., (KBSI) — SEMO Redhawks will host a Donate Life basketball doubleheader Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Show Me Center in partnership with Mid-America Transplant.
The Redhawks will face Tennessee State, with the women’s game scheduled for 5:15 p.m. and the men’s game at 7:30 p.m. A limited number of free tickets are available for registered organ donors while supplies last through the university’s athletics website using a promotional code.
School officials said the event is intended to raise awareness about organ and tissue donation. Teams will wear blue and green; colors associated with the Donate Life campaign.
University officials noted that former Southeast student-athletes Meg Herndon and Madeline Flieg were registered donors whose gifts helped save and improve lives. SEMO Athletics hosts annual Donate Life games in multiple sports to honor their legacy.
According to Mid-America Transplant, more than 100,000 people nationwide are waiting for a lifesaving transplant, and 17 people die each day while waiting. In 2025, 126 people from Southeast Missouri became organ donors, resulting in 26 organ transplants, 97 cornea donations and more than 9,000 tissue donations.
Mid-America Transplant serves 84 counties in eastern Missouri, southern Illinois and northeast Arkansas and is federally designated as one of 55 organ procurement organizations in the United States.
