SEMO to host panel discussion on rural tech startups
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Southeast Missouri State University students and community members are invited to attend a panel discussion on launching and scaling technology startups in rural areas.
The event, “Cultivating Innovation: Thriving Tech Startups in Unexpected Places,” will be held at noon on April 23 in Dempate Hall Room 247 on the SEMO campus. Admission is free, and lunch will be provided for those who register in advance.
The panel will feature three entrepreneurs who have launched successful tech startups in Southeast Missouri: Michael Seaman, co-founder and CEO of Swipesum; Nathan Holmes, founder of PumpTrakr; and Sho Rust, founder and CEO of (link unavailable)
According to Shad Burner, CEO of Southeast Missouri Regional Economic Development Inc., the event aims to showcase innovation in Southeast Missouri.
“This event isn’t just about tech — it’s about showcasing what innovation looks like in our region,” Burner said.
The panel is part of Innovate SOMO Week, a regional celebration of innovation and opportunity. The event is sponsored by SEMO Regional Economic Development Inc. and Southeast Missouri State University’s Harrison College of Business & Computing.
