CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Southeast Missouri State University will inaugurate Dr. Brad Hodson as its 19th president during Homecoming Weekend in October.
The inauguration ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, at the Show Me Center. A community reception will follow.
“Homecoming is the perfect time for Dr. Hodson’s inauguration because it brings together the full spirit of the University—students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community—all gathered to celebrate both our traditions and also our future,” said Board of Governors President Jim Limbaugh.
The event will highlight a week of activities celebrating SEMO’s academic excellence, community spirit and alumni impact. It will also mark the official launch of the University’s new brand identity, which officials say reflects SEMO’s role as a catalyst for opportunity and experience-driven learning.
“One of Dr. Hodson’s first goals was for SEMO to better tell its story, and our new narrative embodies the grit and ambition Southeast Missouri has always been known for,” Limbaugh said.
Public events during inauguration week include:
Thursday, Oct. 16: Academic Showcase, 1–5 p.m., featuring classroom demonstrations, alumni panels, and lab tours across SEMO’s five colleges, capped by a reception.
