SEMO uses robot food delivery service

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Lunch time on campus just a little cooler!

Southeast Missouri State University launched their Starship robot food delivery service today as it was also the first day of SEMO’s school year. According to campus officials the option to have food delivered will help busy students who may not have time to get to a dining hall in between classes or work obligations.

According to Alicia Ticer director of marketing and student engagement of SEMO dining these robots have a complete map of Semo’s campus so anyone on campus can be reached by the delivery robot. Ticer explains how it works.

Students can easily download the starship app, drop a pin of where they’re at on campus and that robot will deliver directly to them. So they can order foods like Starbucks, subway, panda express, our locations inside RedHawks markets and our locations inside rowdy’s and those food items will be in the robot securely transported to them wherever they are on campus.”

Ticer says the robots will run 7am through 10pm Monday through Friday with limited hours on the weekends.
