SEMO Women’s Basketball team hit the platform on TikTok
CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – Southeast Missouri State Women’s Basketball Team is bringing good infectious energy on and off the court.
The team is starting to take part in a different kind of practice and this one is for the launch of their first TikTok ever.
Head Coach Briley Palmer has found the latest trend to get her women in front of the community and she wants her team to be positive influencers on and off the court.
“They keep me young; they tell me all these things that are important with the tech and so that’s why TikTok. We have some really popular girls that you’ve seen so far, and very fun girls and they were like coach we need a TikTok.”
As for the team, some of the women like Kennedy Claybrooks know the power of TikTok.
Claybrooks has thousands of followers herself, 33,000 in fact. She says she also wants to get her team’s name out there as well.
“We just want to go viral and get our name out there ya know a lot of people don’t know about SEMO Women’s Basketball,” said Claybrooks.
The other players say they had a blast planning the video.
Coach Palmer and the ladies says they are ready to show off their Redhawk personalities.
“I have kids that I know, I don’t have to tell you twice — you’re going to love these girls. I don’t worry about it; I think they’re going to be great for this community and the school. Like you said you have to have the energy and that’s what people want to watch in the stands and so I’m excited to see what our following comes after this,” said Palmer.
Players say it’s important to shine the light on the team on and off the court because they have some of the most genuine personalities.
“I think it’s very important to get our name out to get the word out,” said Lexi McCully. “I haven’t even known these girls for half a year yet and I am already so close to them because they are great people. You have genuine leaders who work hard who little girls would love to see growing up.”
