CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Seniors and Lawmen Together (S.A.L.T.) invites area seniors to celebrate the season at its annual Senior Christmas Party from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Eagles Aerie, 321 N. Spring St., Cape Girardeau.

The event will feature music, snacks, door prizes, and plenty of holiday cheer.

Organizers encourage seniors to join friends and local law enforcement for an afternoon of fun and fellowship.

Local law enforcement had some fun with local seniors at the annual SALT Christmas party!

SALT(Seniors and Lawmen together) annual Christmas party has been running for 30 years and allows for law enforcement to connect with seniors on a personal level through games, dancing and laughter. Officers serve the senior community treats and talk with them on any concerns or questions they may have.

Cape Girardeau Public Information Officer Bobby Newton shares more on the annual event.

“Its a great opportunity for us to interact with our senior community and to be together, answer any questions that they have. I’ve had several come up to me and ask me questions about, maybe some people speeding through their neighborhoods or just different things that they need information about and we’re able to provide that to them right here. So, it’s a great time for us to make those connections and answer any questions that they have as well says Newton.

Other SALT events include the Law Enforcement Memorial held in May each year, and Senior Information Day held annually in September.
