Sesser man sentenced to 31 years for predatory criminal sexual assault

SESSER, Ill., (KBSI) — Luis Delacruz, 31, of Sesser, Illinois, has been sentenced to 31 years in prison for predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

Delacruz pleaded guilty March 27 to assaulting a 12-year-old family member in December 2023.

According to the Franklin County State’s Attorney, the victim sent text messages to their parents after the assault, prompting the father to call 911.

Delacruz fled the area but was later located in North Carolina and returned to Illinois to face charges.

He was sentenced by Judge Evan Ownes and will also serve three years to life of mandatory supervised release after his prison term.
