Several celebrate grand opening of new grocery store in Perryville

PERRYVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) – Several dozen customers celebrated the grand opening of a new grocery store in Perryville Thursday morning.

The first 100 customers of the new Aldi received a goodie bag of food. Employees also handed out carts without the need for a quarter. Aldi shopping carts require a quarter to unlock for use.

Some customers started waiting in line at 6 a.m.

Community members spoke about how Perryville needed the new store and that they are very excited for it.

Brandie Morgan is a resident of Perryville and says, “With the cost of things, it makes it much easier to get all of your groceries. I’m very happy to not have to drive to Cape every two weeks to get groceries.”

Perryville Mayor, Larry Rhiney got to take a look inside the newly constructed store, “I just walked through it and it looks very nice and it looks very big.” Says Rhiney, adding, “Anytime we can get a new business, that has job opportunities, and supply the citizens of Perryville with a quality product it’s very exciting for us.”
Mayor Rhiney adds that he has hope for more businesses to enter the community.
Perryville has not seen a large grocery store enter the county since the installation of Wal-mart Supercenter in 1998 and is sure to give the retail giant a run for it’s money.

The new store is located at 300 N Perryville Blvd. in Perryville.
