Several dozen participate in Furry 5K in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Saturday Cape Girardeau saw the Furry 5K and 1 Mile Walk.

The event was organized by Red Runner Racing in Cape Girardeau.

Many who ran the race participated for their furry friends, but also in memory of Zoey Ambler who loved to race.

A total of 72 racers participated in the 5K and 22 in the 1 mile walk.

The overall winner of the 1 mile walk was Joyce Hunter with a winning time of 17:20.8.

The overall winner of the 5K was Stephen Schott with a winning time of 19:36.9.

This year there, more than 90 participants brought their furry friends with them on the walk or run.

In previous years, the race raised more than $2000 for Southeast Missouri Pets.
