Several participate in Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Tour

JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI) – One of the longest running AG tours helped educate the community today.

Darrell Aufdenberg with the AG Committee says, “It’s our 43rd annual ag tour for the Jackson Chamber of Commerce.”

The 43rd Annual Jackson Chamber of Commerce Agri-Business Tour kicked off at Cape Inland Rice.

Aufendberg says, “We see a rice plant which you’ve never heard of until several years ago till just in the last year there’s a new rice plant in this area.”

Cape Inland Rice is the only American grown rice farm, family owned and operated by actual health and nutrition experts.

“Missouri is a big agricultural state, of course so, there’s a lot to be learned, and there’s always something new coming along.” Says, Aufdenberg.

A demonstration of drone operations also took place during the tour.

Caleb Dambron in Drone Operations for AG Flys LLC says, “We’re out here doing a demonstration for folks trying to get a little bit of insight on drone application.”

The drones used by Ag fly’s LLC are used to help with crop growth.

Jason Bahr, President of Gateway Seed says, “A lot of people think that we just go out there and drive a tractor, throw some stuff in the ground, and stuff pops up well there’s a lot more preparation in there to lead into that.”
The tour finished by visiting Essner’s Custom Butchering.
Overall, the tour highlights the importance of the agricultural industry in Missouri and gives local residents a chance to see all the hard work that goes into getting our food from the farm to the kitchen table.
