Several power outages reported after storms early July 5

(KBSI) – Storms early Friday morning knocked trees and powerlines down in southern Illinois.
The National Weather Service reports multiple trees and powerlines were knocked down in Murphysboro around 3:42 a.m. on July 5.
Trees were also reported down at Sam A. Baker State Park in Wayne County.
As of 10 a.m. on July 5, Ameren Illinois reports the number of customers without power:
- 1,439 near Murphysboro
- 557 near Carbondale
- 20 near Carterville
- 134 near Johnston City
- 122 near Gorham
- 4 between Zeigler and West Frankfort
- 61 near West Frankfort
- 3 near Grand Tower
The city of Murphysboro’s storage yard on Shoemaker Driver is open until 4 p.m. Friday, July 5. It will also be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 6 for resident to bring brush downed by storms.
The National Weather Service also reports trees down at Sam A. Baker State Park and more than 3,000 without power in Wayne County, Missouri at 2:42 a.m.
A couple of trees were reported down near Piedmont at 1:40 a.m.
