Shawnee Community College receives $25,000 donation to support Career and Technical Education Scholarships

ULLIN, Ill., (KBSI) — The Saints Foundation of Shawnee Community College received a $25,000 donation Thursday from Gemma Renewable Power to support scholarships for students pursuing careers in technical and career education.

Gemma Renewable Power, an engineering, procurement and construction contractor for the Pulaski Solar Power Plant in Pulaski County, presented the gift at the site of the college’s new facility.

Saints Foundation Executive Director Shane Bennett and Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Melanie Pecord accepted the donation on behalf of the foundation.

College officials said the funds will be used to expand scholarship opportunities for students seeking training in career and technical education programs.

Shawnee Community College officials thanked Gemma Renewable Power for its support, noting the donation will help create new opportunities for students preparing to enter the workforce.
