Shed fire damages home, threatens neighboring residence in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Firefighters with the Cape Girardeau Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire that threatened two homes, officials said.

Crews were dispatched and arrived within four minutes to find a shed on fire between two residences. Fire had extended into one of the homes, and a neighboring residence at 427 S. Louisiana St. was considered to be in immediate danger.

Firefighters launched an aggressive interior and exterior attack, bringing the fire under control within about 10 minutes. Crews remained on scene for approximately an hour to conduct overhaul operations and ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

Officials said the residence at 431 S. Louisiana St. sustained moderate damage, while the neighboring home at 427 S. Louisiana St. sustained minor exterior damage.
