Sheriff: Non-compliant sex offender arrested in rural West Frankfort

WEST FRANKFORT, Ill. (KBSI) – A man faces charges for being a non-compliant sex offender.
Jeffrey M. Shillito, 35, faces two counts of unlawful failure to register as a sex offender.
On July 11, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office working in cooperation with the Benton Police Department and Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, began searching for Shillito.
He is a convicted sex offender that is required to register. Shillito was registered to an address in Benton, but believed to be actually living at a home in rural West Frankfort, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
On the morning of July 12, Franklin County detectives and uniform patrol found Shillito at the rural West Frankfort home.
He was arrested and taken to the Franklin County Jail.
Due to the fact that Shillito has previously been convicted of failing to register, both charges were enhanced to Class 2 felonies.
Bond had not yet been set as of July 12.
