Sheriff’s deputies investigate death of man found in street in Dowell

DOWELL, Ill. (KBSI) – Jackson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of a man after he was found in a street in Dowell.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call around 1:45 a.m. in Friday, March 15 of a man down on Union Avenue in Dowell.
First responders arrived on scene and found 21-year-old Seth Betts unconcious and not breathing, according to Lt. Jon W. Kilquist with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
They tried life saving efforts and took him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Jackson County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the sequence of events that led to Betts’ death.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Dowell Fire Department, Elkville Fire Department, Jackson County Ambulance Service and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office assisted with the case.
