Sheriff’s deputies say woman tried to hide drugs in pants during traffic stop

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KBSI) – An Arkansas woman faces drug charges after a traffic stop in McCracken County on Friday.

Krista Galens, 28, of Pocahontas, Arkansas faces charges of firearm-enhanced trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Deputy Zach Kimbler stopped a vehicle for traffic infractions near the intersection of Olivet Church Road and Hinkleville roads on just before 11 a.m. on Friday, January 26.

A Sheriff’s Office K-9 alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics coming from the vehicle.

Deputies asked those in the vehicle to step out to conduct a probable cause search of the vehicle.

Deputy Lindsey Miller saw a passenger in the vehicle, identified as Galens, trying to conceal something in her waistband, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies detained and searched Galens. Deputies found a baggy containing approximately 25 grams of crystal methamphetamine and additional baggies inside Galens’ pants.

When deputies searched the vehicle, they found a bag inside the vehicle that contained a handgun and some of Galens’ belongings.

Galens was arrested and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
