Sheriff’s deputies trying to find owner of stolen wire after man arrested with pickup truck full

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KBSI) – Sheriff’s deputies try to find the company or sub-contractor after stolen wire was found.

James A. Avant faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle.

On February 15, at 10:45 a.m., Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle and theft in progress on Power Plant Road near Lake of Egypt.

Avant was found at the site of a utility substation tryining to load a large spool of wire into his pickup, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Deputies say he confirmed the wire did not belong to him.

Avant was also in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, according to deputies.

He was taken to the Williamson County Jail.

Williamson County Sheriff’s deputies are trying to locate the company or sub-contractor owner of the stolen wire.
