WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating criminal damage to heavy construction equipment reported on November 30 in the 8900 block of Crenshaw Road in rural Marion.

Deputies were dispatched at 7:07 a.m. after employees discovered a John Deere 700J dozer—parked the previous afternoon—had been moved. Tracks led deputies to a strip pit, where the dozer was found partially submerged.

The sheriff’s office said it appeared the machine had been driven over an embankment. Deputies searched the equipment and surrounding area out of concern that the person responsible may have been injured.

Sheriff Jeff Diederich is asking anyone with information to contact the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office at 618-997-6541 or submit a tip through the Williamson County Sheriff’s App, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. Anonymous tips are accepted.
