Sheriff’s office: No public threat after search near Carterville school

CARTERVILLE, Ill., (KBSI) — The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says there is no ongoing threat after deputies executed a search warrant near Carterville Junior High School.

The court-authorized search was completed before students arrived Friday morning. The sheriff’s office said the scene is secure and parents can safely bring their children to school.

Deputies remaining in the area are completing administrative work related to the operation.
