3 wounded after a shooting in Ste. Genevieve

Ste. Genevieve, Mo. (KBSI) – Three wounded after being shot in Ste. Genevieve.
According to Ste. Genevieve Police Chief Jason Crump, around 10:00 a.m. officers received a call about a shooting.
Officers arrived at the 400 block of Market Street where they found three victims had suffered gunshot wounds.
Two are in critical condition and taken to St. Louis area hospitals and one is in stable condition.
The shooter was identified and has a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, leaving one victim with a gunshot to the leg, and the third victim with a gunshot to the hand and chest.
The investigation is ongoing with the Ste. Genevieve Police Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Crump says, “All three were living together officers were on the scene quick, we were able to identify the shooter, the shooter did have a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”
Crump says shooting incidents don’t often take place in Ste. Genevieve, with this isolated incident being the first for 2023.
He adds, “It is rare for us to have a shooting, especially a shooting with multiple gunshot victims, it is something we train for, and prepare for our guys done a great job and we had the scene secured within minutes of being on-scene.”
Schools in the area were informed of the incident and were not put on lockdown.
There is no threat to the community.
