Show Me Green Tax Holiday to promote energy efficiency and business growth for Missouri

MISSOURI(KBSI) – Missouri’s Show Me Green tax holiday starts Saturday, April 19 in 2025 and according to the Missouri Department of Revenue the tax deduction is designed to promote energy efficiency and business growth for Missouri.
Trish Vincent is the Director of the Missouri Department of Revenue. She explains that the tax holiday runs from April 19t at midnight through April 25 at midnight 2025 and allows for people to buy energy-efficient appliances up to the price of $1500 per appliance completely tax free.
“Of course, so those appliances do have to meet standards so usually they are the energy star appliances and so they do have to have that designation in order to get those taxes not collected” says Vincent.
The Show Me Green tax holiday started in 2009 but only this year is every county in the state of Missouri participating.
Vincet shares that buying energy efficient appliances not only saves money but helps the environment.
“This is not only for personal use but it’s for commercial use, this was brought about actually by the US Department of Environmental Protection Agency. They wanted more efficient appliances to save on electricity and everything else” says Vincent.
Now App user Lindsay Koelmel says energy efficiency works well for her family.
“We use the nest at our house. This helps us save energy in terms of heating and cooling. We are able to control all of our heating and cooling from our phone and so when we are out of town or if we are out and about for work and won’t be home, we can switch it so that we are not using unutilized heating and cooling in our house, and it saves our energy” says Koelmel.
The following ENERGY STAR certified appliances qualify for the tax holiday.
