Sikeston DPS investigating arson fire
SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – The Sikeston Department of Public Safety is investigating after an arson fire on July 4.
Sikeston DPS responded to a fire at 135 Third Street at 11:23 a.m. on Tuesday.
Officers reported heavy fire in the rear of the home. More firefighters arrived and were able to get the fire under control within 15 minutes, according to Captain Derick Wheetley with Sikeston DPS.
Crews remained on scene for a little less than two hours putting out hot spots.
The home has heavy fire and smoke damage.
Sikeston DPS determined the fire to be arson.

The South Scott County Ambulance District, Morehouse Fire Department, Scott County Rural Fire Protection District and Miner Fire Department also responded to the fire.
