Sikeston man arrested on multiple charges after traffic stop

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — A traffic stop on County Highway 480 in Sikeston, Missouri, led to the arrest of Jon Day, on multiple charges, including possession of controlled substances and unlawful use of a weapon.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle blocking the roadway at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 29. Upon arrival, they found Day passed out in the front seat.

Day became noncompliant and refused commands when awakened.

A search of the vehicle revealed a 9mm pistol, 11 grams of methamphetamine, a glass smoking device with meth residue, and two pill bottles containing controlled substances.

Day was also found to be in possession of an AR rifle with a loaded magazine.

He was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Day’s bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety. He is being held at the Scott County jail.
