Sikeston man charged after 5 shot in Charleston

CHARLESTON, Mo. (KBSI) – A Sikeston man faces charges after five people were shot in Charleston on July 1.
The shooting happened at the intersection of Vine and Sy Williams Streets.
Initial reports were that six people had been shot. During the investigation it was determined that the actual number of victims was five.
None of the injuries were life-threatening.
After working with several area agencies, formal charges have been filed in this case.
Deshauntay Craig, 24 of Sikeston faces five counts of assault 1st degree, five counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a stolen vehicle charges.
The warrant has no bond.
Craig is in the Butler County Jail on unrelated charges.
The investigation continues.
Charleston Department of Public Safety Robert E. Hearnes says additional charges are possible.
