SCOTT COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — A Sikeston man faces a felony charge after investigators say he missed a required sex offender registration deadline, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
Jason Jerome Ross was arrested Oct. 5 following an investigation into his compliance with registration requirements.
Ross is a Tier II registered sex offender required to register every six months, the sheriff’s office said. He last registered March 25 and was instructed to return Sept. 25. Investigators said he failed to report by that date.
Sheriff’s office staff contacted Ross at a Sikeston residence during a compliance check. He was taken into custody and booked into the Scott County Jail.
Ross is charged with failure to register as a sex offender, a Class E felony. The court set a $60,000 surety bond with conditions.
The charge is an accusation, and Ross is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
