Sikeston mayor proclaims Prince Hall Americanism Day

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — Sikeston Mayor Greg Turnbow proclaimed Sept. 12 as Prince Hall Americanism Day ahead of Monday’s Sikeston City Council meeting.
Prince Hall Americanism Day is observed nationally and locally on or near Sept. 12 and recognizes principles including civic duty, patriotism and service.
The observance honors Prince Hall, an advocate for civil rights, education and equality who is recognized as the founder of African American Freemasonry in the United States.
Peaceful Lodge No. 181, Prince Hall Affiliated, operates in Sikeston and supports community programs, youth initiatives and charitable efforts throughout Southeast Missouri.
