Sikeston sets dates for annual spring community cleanup

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — The City of Sikeston has scheduled its Spring Community Cleanup for April 18 through April 26.
During the cleanup period, the city’s Yard Waste Disposal Site, also known as the compost site, will be open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The event is open to Sikeston residents, who may dispose of large bulky items, household rubbish and yard waste, including grass clippings, furniture and appliances such as washers, dryers, microwaves, refrigerators and water heaters. Tires up to 18 inches without rims will also be accepted, with a limit of four per day.
City officials said electric motors, rubber hoses and compressors must be removed from appliances before disposal. The site will be staffed, and proof of residency will be required.
The city will not accept hazardous materials, chemicals, asbestos, shingles, paint, LP tanks, fuel containers, construction or demolition waste, or batteries. Commercial dumping is also prohibited.
