SIU Carbondale to honor more than 1,500 graduates at fall commencement

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — Southern Illinois University Carbondale will recognize the achievements of roughly 1,550 students during its Fall 2025 commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Banterra Center.
The ceremony begins at 9:30 a.m. and is open to the public. No tickets are required, and seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
The event will honor graduates from both the summer and fall terms. As of late November, SIU reports 1,536-degree candidates: 893 bachelor’s, 503 master’s, 99 doctoral, one law degree, 38 associate degrees and two certificates.
The university says 322 graduates earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher, including nine students who finished with a perfect 4.0. The class represents a broad international community, with students from Bangladesh, Barbados, Belgium, Canada, China, Germany, India, Iran, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.
