SIU Carbondale to install public electric vehicle charging stations
CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) — Southern Illinois University Carbondale plans to install three public Level 3 electric vehicle charging stations on campus.
The stations, which can charge multiple vehicles, will be installed in partnership with the Egyptian Electric Cooperative Association.
Locations include the parking lot across from the Student Center, the entrance to Touch of Nature Outdoor Education Center and the Glenn Poshard Transportation Education Center at the Southern Illinois Airport.
The installations are expected to be completed by summer 2026 and align with the university’s Imagine 2030 strategic plan, which aims to make SIU a leader in sustainability and environmental responsibility.
