Six-year-old seriously injured in Butler County crash

BUTLER COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — A 6-year-old boy suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash Monday night in Butler County.
The crash happened at 9:45 p.m. Sept. 7 on Missouri Route 53, about 2 miles south of Poplar Bluff.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a southbound 2011 Chevrolet Aveo driven by a 25-year-old Qulin woman failed to yield to a southbound 1998 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 44-year-old Poplar Bluff man.
The seriously injured child, who was riding in the Aveo, was flown to SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.
The Aveo’s driver, a 26-year-old male passenger and another 6-year-old boy suffered minor injuries. A 6-year-old boy riding in the Silverado also suffered minor injuries. All four were taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
The pickup’s driver was not injured. Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
The patrol report lists all three children as wearing safety devices. The Aveo’s driver and adult passenger were not wearing safety devices.
