Small Downtown Cape business celebrating the Holidays with a pajama party

CAPE GIRARDEAU Mo. (KBSI) – Holidays are just days away and people are taking off work and getting some last-minute shopping in while also being comfy at the same time.
A locally owned Boutique in Downtown Cape wanted to spread a little Holiday cheer just days away from Christmas to get to meet some Cape locals they haven’t met yet and just overall spread seasonal greetings.
Anne Marie Schlegel is the store Manager for Peachy Keen Boutique off Broadway in Downtown Cape.
“Me and Grace, the owner, just love to be comfy and cute. And so we were like, well, let’s make it a PJ party. And then we’re also just really silly girls that love to have a good time. So just being comfy and having fun was our whole idea for this event,” said Schlegel.
This is the first time at Peachy Keen on Broadway that they have hosted a Christmas gathering.
Family members stopping in the store supporting the girls with smiles on their faces and bags in their hands.
“At Peachy Keen, we’re having, the night before, the night before Christmas PJ party. And so we’re just having fun. Everybody can come out and shop, have a good time, drink some hot cocoa. We have a little hot chocolate bar set up. And then we also have custom patch sweatshirts so you can pick a Christmas patch just getting in the Christmas spirit and everything,” said Schlegel.
Peachy Keen has hosted events similar to this but never had as big of a turnout around the holidays. The way they got the word out about this event was through Facebook.
“So, we’ve actually had quite a few people that saw our event on Facebook and said they never been here before, and they just saw us. So we’re seeing a lot of new people, a lot of our usual customers. So it’s great to see new faces and people come in,” said Schlegel.
The Boutique even stayed up later than usual for shoppers to get last minute wish list items checked off.
“Let all the Christmas shoppers come, do some last-minute Christmas shopping and get out of the house in case they have cabin fever,” said Schlegel.
Overall, with seasonal sweaters, patches, and warm drinks Broadway is bringing in some Christmas cheer to small business owners.
“Quite a few people come in, do the patch bar. We have really cute Christmas patches, and some hot cocoa. So everybody definitely wants to get in the holiday mood. And I think this is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season,” said Schlegel.
Peachy Keen had a great turn out with this event and plans on doing something similar next year.
“Oh yes. We love to do events. We always have an event like at least every other month. So we just like to have fun, make it different. And so, we would love to do this again next year in future years to come,” said Schlegel.
Peachy Keen loved meeting new customers and will be closed during the holidays but look forward to hosting new events in the future.
