‘Smoking towels’ source of triggered fire alarm at Tipton Linen

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – The Cape Girardeau Fire Department responded to a fire at Tipton Linen, located at the intersection of Independence and West End Boulevard, around 6 a.m.

According to fire crews, the alarm was triggered by smoking towels in a dryer, activating the fire alarm.

Tipton Linen employees had extinguished the towels by the time firefighters arrived on scene.

No injuries were reported.
