PERRYVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — Some Perry County voters will have new polling locations beginning with the Aug. 4 primary election.
According to the Perry County Election Authority, the Highland and Biehle precincts will be consolidated in an effort to improve accessibility and reduce election costs.
Voters who previously cast ballots at Highland Catholic Church Hall will now vote at the St. Maurus Parish Center, located at 10198 Highway B in Perryville.
In a separate change, voters in the Belgique/Sereno precinct who previously voted at Our Lady of Victory Church in Sereno will now cast ballots at the Perryville Elks Lodge, 921 N. Perryville Blvd., alongside voters from the P-5 precinct.
County officials said affected voters will receive postcards notifying them of the change, as well as updated voter registration cards reflecting their new polling locations.
Perry County Clerk and Election Authority Jared Kutz said the changes are intended to reduce costs by lowering facility expenses and decreasing the number of election judges needed to staff polling places.
Officials also reminded voters that no-excuse absentee voting is available at the Perry County Courthouse beginning two weeks before an election. Traditional absentee voting begins six weeks before Election Day.
Voters are encouraged to verify their polling location before heading to the polls on Aug. 4.
