Some streets, parking lots to close for Corvette Caravan

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – The Cape Girardeau Police Department will implement special traffic arrangements for the 2024 Corvette Caravan to assure the smooth and safe flow of vehicles in the downtown area.

The Corvette Caravan will be held on Tuesday, August 27 from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Schedule:

  • 3:30 p.m. – Cruise Down Broadway- Meet at Capaha Park to cruise down Broadway to South Main Street. Arrive at Capaha by 2:30 p.m.
  • 4 p.m. – Show Off Your Ride- Local Vetytes will be displayed on the parking lot across from Big Sandy’s Superstore (formerly known as Hutson’s)
  • 5 p.m. – The Caravan Arrives- Vettes from the Caravan will arrive in Downtown Cape and be displayed along Water, Main, and Spanish Streets.
  • 5 p.m.-9 p.m. – Entertainment and Dining- Dine with Caravan at local restaurants, bars, ice cream parlors, and food trucks! Listen to the Fault Line Band in our beer garden from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • 6 p.m.-10 p.m. – Additionally, if you want more live music in dwntown Cape, visit Century Casino to catch The Feels!

The following streets/parking lots will be closed at 1 p.m. on August 27:

Streets:

  • Spanish St, from Broadway to William St.
  • Main St, from Broadway to William St.
  • Water St, from Broadway to Independence
  • Themis St, from Spanish to Water St.
  • Independence St, from Spanish to Water St.
  • Merriwether St, from Spanish to Main St.
  • Broadway St, from Main to Water St.

Parking lots:

  • Parking Lot north of Broadway and Water
  • Parking Lot located at 35 S. Spanish, Old Town Cape
  • Parking Lot at 131 S. Spanish St. Vincent’s Church
  • Parking Lot at 0 N. Spanish, located north of 118 Themis
  • Parking Lot at NW corner of Water and Themis
  • Parking Lot across from Van Art at Independence and S. Main

Your vehicle must be removed from these areas by 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27. Any vehicle parked in these areas will be towed at the owners expense. Parking will resume immediately following the event.

The parking lot at N. Main and Broadway will be public parking as well as the pickup and drop off point for the Isle Casino shuttle to their parking lot.
