Southeast Missouri Food Bank expands mobile pantries to meet growing need

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) – With many families across the region facing increased hardship due to disruptions in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Southeast Missouri Food Bank announced it will double the number of mobile food pantries throughout November to meet the growing need.
Each mobile pantry distributes roughly 6,000 pounds of food, enough to help about 200 families put meals on the table.
The food bank said donations are essential to keeping these operations running and ensuring families have access to nutritious food when they need it most.
“This month brings added worry for many families who aren’t receiving SNAP,” the organization said in a statement. “We’re responding to that need by expanding our outreach and bringing more food directly to communities.”
