Southeast Missouri State University GIS Program prepares students for in-demand careers

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Southeast Missouri State University’s geographic information science (GIS) program is equipping students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the rapidly growing field of geospatial technology.

The program’s innovative curriculum combines hands-on learning, interdisciplinary coursework and advanced GIS applications, providing students with a solid foundation in geospatial technologies, environmental science and data analysis.

Graduates of the program can pursue careers in a variety of fields, including cartography, urban and regional planning, risk analysis of natural hazards, site-specific crop management, law enforcement, land surveying and historic preservation.

The program also offers opportunities for students to strengthen their skills and resumes through courses provided by the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) program, which provide advanced training in drone operations, aerial mapping and remote sensing applications.
