CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Southeast Missouri State University healthcare students are gaining hands-on experience in real-world settings, mirroring the professional world from day one.

Across nursing, athletic training and communication disorders programs, students work in simulation labs, hospitals, clinics and therapy rooms, applying classroom learning in live settings.

“Nursing students refine their clinical reasoning in diverse healthcare settings, building a strong foundation in patient care,” said Dr. Moretta Burk, interim chairperson and associate professor in the Department of Nursing.

Athletic training students cycle through clinical rotations, taking the lead in decision-making under preceptor supervision. Communication disorders students engage with patients using advanced diagnostic tools.

The university continuously adapts its curriculum to reflect industry advancements, ensuring students are prepared for the latest innovations.
