Southeast Missouri State University planning 150th Homecoming
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI)- Southeast Missouri State University is gearing up for the celebration of a sesquicentennial.
George Gasser is the Director of Alumni Relations and says this year’s celebration will be unlike any other, “There’s always something at homecoming for everybody, this year there’s so much happening, that really no matter what you want out of homecoming you can get it.”
This year’s homecoming features a week full of events for alumni and students to celebrate.
Some of the homecoming events have been restructured to create an unforgettable experience throughout campus.
Gasser said, “This university doesn’t exist without the community around it, it doesn’t exist without the students that have come here, and we don’t continue to be meaningful, without our alumni, being a part of the university and giving back.”
The alumni association will honor five alumni at the alumni association awards celebration.
The university also offered alumni the opportunity to take a campus tour or tour some of our innovative learning spaces on Friday afternoon to see how much the campus has changed.
A surprise announcement from Dr. Carlos Vargas, the university’s president, will be made about what’s to come to
Southeast in the next 150 years.
