Southeast Missouri State University students become certified storm spotters

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – Thirty-one students from Southeast Missouri State University’s meteorology course earned certified storm spotter credentials on March 3, 2025.

The students attended a National Weather Service training session led by a professional meteorologist.

The training provided students with practical skills for identifying hazardous weather, including cloud formations and storm development.

Professor Pamela Mills said the certification is about giving back to the community and keeping the skies safer.

Many students are aviation majors or geoscience minors.
