CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KBSI) – Southeast Missouri State University is transforming their enrollment structure by creating a new unit to enhance recruitment and support for domestic graduate students.

“When I graduated with my undergrad. I knew that SEMO was going to be the best place for me to get my MBA and offers an accelerated program.”

Say Southeast Missouri State graduate student Hailey Winslow who’s working towards an MBA.

She tells us why she choose to continue her graduate education at SEMO.

“I actually graduated a semester early with my anyway, and also the classes are very flexible and able to choose how I wanna go in person for most of my classes as they are high flex so sometimes I go in person other times I join on zoom and other times I just complete the class online and it really works out to my benefit.”

She says she sees the university working harder to show students they are flexible for them. The university showcasing things like opportunities to speed along her classes, taking away the cost of additional classes, and more.

Winslow says, “when I graduated, since This is accelerated. I was able to take some of my grad classes while I was doing my undergrad and I got credit for both my bachelors in my masters so it’s a short amount of time it’s only a year long process for my masters.”

She shares her experience as we learn Southeast Missouri State University is working to make things even easier for students like Winslow, transforming their enrollment structure by creating a new unit to enhance recruitment and support for domestic graduate students.

Chelsea McNelly is the new director of SEMOs new recruitment and support for domestic graduate students, she tells us about his history leading up to this new position.

“I’ve had over a decade of experience delivering online programming to students of the undergraduate and graduate level now this new role will allow me to extend our services and our offerings to our graduate domestic suits for studying with us in different modalities.”

She says the university wants to have better communication with their students, letting them know there are opportunities that can work for them if they want to continue their education at SEMO.

Dr. McNeely says, “we have over 30 programs that are offered online at the graduate level, but the university has 60 graduate programs in total and many of them are offered flexibly. We just need to make sure we’re communicating that flexibility to our students who are interested in pursuing graduate studies.”

Along with Dr. Chelsea McNeely we also talked to the assistant director of online and graduate outreach Daniel Morris.

Morris says, “we hope to basically give the graduate programs here the opportunity to have a good match with students that will best be served.”

Dr. McNeely says so far they are getting positive feedback from students, saying “I think you’ll find that our graduate students do see there needs to be met at the university”

Directors are saying this is just the beginning of positive connections they hope to continue making to see students thrive.
