Southern 7 Health Department going mobile for flu season

ULLIN, Ill. (KBSI) – The Southern 7 Health Department will be going mobile in the Southern 7 region for flu season.

The health department will conduct mobile flu shot units in various rural areas.

No appointment is required, the health department asks that you bring insurance cards and wear non-restrictive clothing.

Southern 7 Health Department (S7HD) will hold several community drive-thru flu clinics throughout the Southern 7 region beginning in September.

Jennifer Shackles, the Communicable Disease Program Manager at S7HD, encourages everyone to get their annual flu shot to reduce the overall burden of respiratory illnesses. Now more than ever, it’s important to get your flu shot.

According to the CDC, it is possible to have the flu, as well as other respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19 at the same time. The CDC has recommended an annual flu shot for everyone 6 months and older since 2010.
