VIENNA, Ill. (KBS) – The Autumn Ridge Senior Expo was held at the Fellowship Baptist Church by Arrowleaf connecting seniors to resources.

The expo provided flu shots, FIT kits, genetic cancer testing and more.
Sydney Shelton is a volunteer at the expo and she says encouraging the elderly to ask for the help they need is something she works on doing every day.

Shelton says, “Not all the time do you think everyday activities we need that help, but it’s always important to encourage the elderly to ask for help when they need it and to provide the resources that they need.”

Heather Sullivan is the Senior Director of Autumn Ridge Senior Living in Vienna and says that having the expo is important for seniors to have one local hub for resources.

Sulivan says, “Local seniors, can all come together, in one building and they can receive all of the information of the local services that are available to them.”

Sullivan says a lot of senior residents don’t have access to this information for resources that could be provided to them, Sullivan adds, “We want to provide them with whatever mechanisms that they might make or need to help them to live a happier life and easier and get around their home.”
