Special ceremony for former Cape Girardeau fire captain on Thursday

JACKSON, Mo. (KBSI)- Thursday, May 4 a special ceremony will be held to remember former Cape Girardeau Fire Captain Ivan LeGrand.
LeGrand is a former Cape Girardeau firefighter who passed away due to a battle with COVID-19 in December of 2021.
The ceremony will honor his dedication to the community with a brick laying ceremony will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Jackson Fire Department 9/11 Memorial.
“He was well known throughout the community,” said Ron Kiplinger, a captain with the Jackson Fire Rescue. “Nearly everybody in the county had taken a class taught by Ivan or he assisted people in someway.”
The ceremony will be an unveiling for a brick dedication to LeGrand at the Jackson Fire Rescue 9/11 Memorial.
