Spin Doctors to headline Carbondale’s 3rd annual SIU Homecoming Music Street Festival

CARBONDALE, Ill., (KBSI) — The Spin Doctors will headline the third annual SIU Homecoming Music Street Festival in downtown Carbondale this fall.

The festival is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 16, along Illinois Avenue and will feature two stages of live music, food trucks, vendors and other activities as part of Southern Illinois University’s Homecoming celebration.

Illinois Avenue will be closed from College Street to Elm Street beginning Friday morning through midnight, transforming the area into a pedestrian entertainment district.

The Spin Doctors, known for 1990s hits including “Two Princes” and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong,” will headline the main stage.

Multiple Grammy-nominated North Mississippi Allstars will open for the band. Other performers include Cowboy Kyle, Lucas Wayne and the Cottonmouths with special guest City of Soul, and Johnny Rock-itt and The Double-Wide Symphony.

The SIU Student Programming Council also will host a Student After-Hours Party following the festival’s main schedule. Organizers said the late-night event will feature a surprise performer who will be announced later this fall.

The festival is organized through a partnership among the City of Carbondale, SIU organizations, local businesses and community groups.

Guests also are encouraged to visit downtown restaurants, shops and businesses during the event. Public consumption of alcohol will be permitted within the Downtown Entertainment District in accordance with city regulations.
