Spread Hope Now announces new Sikeston home to expand foster care services

SIKESTON, Mo., (KBSI) — Spread Hope Now announced plans to build a new home in Sikeston to expand services for children in foster care across Southeast Missouri.
The faith-based nonprofit has served Scott, Mississippi, New Madrid and Pemiscot counties, and more recently Cape Girardeau and Bollinger counties through Journey House. The organization opened Missouri’s first home of its kind in April 2024 and has since provided temporary care for 92 children, along with support for Missouri Children’s Division caseworkers and law enforcement officers.
Construction on the new single-family home is expected to begin soon at a site in Sikeston near the current Journey House location. The expansion comes as the nonprofit responds to increasing demand for safe, temporary placement options for children entering foster care or experiencing placement disruptions.
Journey House was created to prevent children from spending nights in Children’s Division offices by offering a home-like environment during times of transition. For the past 20 months, the facility has provided food, toys, luggage, car seats and new clothing to meet children’s immediate needs and help equip foster or relative placement homes.
Spread Hope Now is a local 501(c)(3) organization that has served the Sikeston area for 10 years by assisting individuals and families in crisis through donated items and community support. The organization is funded through private donations and supported by volunteers, churches, local businesses and community groups.
