Squirrel causes brief power outage in Jackson; service restored in 17 minutes

JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — A brief power outage in Jackson on Monday morning was caused by a squirrel entering the city’s main power plant substation, according to city officials.
The outage occurred shortly before 11:20 a.m. and lasted 17 minutes. City officials said Jackson’s electric crew responded immediately and restored service. All utilities are now operating normally.
Residents who experience any unexpected loss of city-provided utility service are encouraged to contact Public Works at 573-243-2300, a number monitored around the clock.
City officials thanked the public for their patience.
